Q. What is LMU Day of Giving?
LMU Day of Giving is an annual, one-day online fundraising event held on Mar. 11, 2025. All gifts made during these 24 hours will count toward the campaign and the challenges that make up the day.
Q. Why give on Mar. 11, 2025?
Your gift on Mar. 11 will have a bigger impact thanks to the many challenge and match opportunities that occur for only 24 hours. Many of these challenges can double the impact of your gift! Be sure to watch the live leaderboards on our Day of Giving website that show progress toward these challenges.
Q. What’s the goal?
To inspire alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends to donate to any area or areas of LMU that are meaningful to them. And--by leveraging the many matches and challenges that will be made available throughout the day--increase the size of their gift and their impact.
Q. How can I make a gift securely during Day of Giving?
On Mar. 11, you can make your gift in three ways:
- Online at dayofgiving.lmu.edu between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. PST.
- By phone at 310.338.5125 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PST.
- By check, made payable to Loyola Marymount University. Please mail it to:

Q. Who can participate?
Anyone! Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends are encouraged to participate by making a gift and sharing their spirit through social media! Visit our Advocate Toolkit page to download sample text and images to share your participation on your social media pages.
Q. Where does my gift go?
Anywhere you wish! One hundred percent of your gift goes directly where you designate it: your college or school, team, a student club or organization, whatever matters most to you. Be sure to look for unit or program specific challenges throughout the day that can increase the impact of your gift.
Q. Is there a minimum gift amount?
Gifts of $5 or more will count toward Day of Giving and help us unlock challenges throughout the day.
Q. Can I make my gift through stock or mutual fund on the Day of Giving?
Yes! Please complete the Gift of Stock or Mutual Funds form and email it to dayofgiving@lmu.edu before 11:59pm on Mar. 11. Any stock or mutual fund transfers initiated on the Day of Giving will count toward the campaign.
To transfer a gift of securities to LMU, you must contact your broker with instructions. The purpose of the form is to notify LMU of an anticipated transfer of securities and to indicate the designation of your gift. The date of the gift is the date that it is transferred into LMU's account.
Q. Can I recommend a gift from my Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) on the Day of Giving?
Yes! Please send us an email at dayofgiving@lmu.edu before 11:59pm on Mar. 11 confirming that you’ve recommended a gift to LMU for the Day of Giving and your donation will count for the campaign.
Q. Can I give through a charitable IRA rollover on the Day of Giving?
Yes! Please email us a copy of your letter requesting a charitable IRA rollover at dayofgiving@lmu.edu before 11:59pm on Mar. 11 and your donation will count for the campaign.
Q. What are the Day of Giving challenges?
Throughout the day, there are several challenges that can increase the impact of your gift! Visit the matches and challenges page throughout the day to watch for updated challenges and match opportunities.
Q. Where does the challenge money come from?
Challenge and matching funds are contributed by generous donors of LMU who are passionate about providing opportunities for our students.
Q. What if I already made a gift this year?
Thank you for your support! By participating in LMU Day of Giving, you can give extra support to an area of LMU that is meaningful to you. You can also encourage others to make a gift on your social media accounts.
Q. Does my gift count toward my annual gift?
Yes! Making a gift on Day of Giving will count as an annual giving contribution to LMU. For more information about giving to LMU and to learn more about our various giving societies, please visit giving.lmu.edu.
Q. In addition to giving, how else can I ensure LMU Day of Giving is a success?
Spread the word! Tell your friends, family, and networks that you’ve made a gift and encourage them to give! Post on your social media channels using #LMUDayofGiving. You can also visit our Advocate Toolkit page to gain access to social media tools that make it even easier to share the excitement with your network.
