The Learning Community (TLC) is committed to the success of first-year students of African descent at LMU. The goals of this year-long program are to cultivate leaders, instill community consciousness, and promote academic and co-curricular success. As a practice of Black Excellence, TLC provides first-year students the opportunity to:
• Expand their ethnic and cultural awareness
• Deepen their understanding of programs and resources present to facilitate academic success
• Gain a greater understanding of the mission and traditions of LMU.
It is our goal for TLC participants to have a robust experience on and off-campus through community programming, events, and leadership opportunities. All gifts to TLC will go directly towards supporting current and future TLC student. You will directly impact student leadership development and provide an environment of Black Excellence!
“The Learning Community has allowed me to cultivate meaningful relationships, sharpen my leadership skills, and foster a sense of community with my peers and faculty alike. As a staff member, the TLC program has allowed me to improve my professional skills and witness how integral this program is to Black freshmen’s success on campus. I am so grateful for the TLC program and the lasting impressions it will have on my time here at LMU and beyond.”
